Lil Wayne is an avowed sports fanatic who's logged plenty of time on ESPN — even going toe-to-toe with the beast known as Skip Bayless — penned a column for ESPN: The Magazine and one-upped Wiz Khalifawith his ode to the Green Bay Packers, Green and Yellow."
So, of course you know he'll be tuning in to Super Bowl XLVII this weekend ... though, really, aside from the on-field action, Weezy's most looking forward to seeing his hometown get some much-needed shine. Because while this will be the 10th time New Orleans has played host to the NFL's biggest game, it's the first since Hurricane Katrina devastated the city in 2005. And the way he sees it, that's bigger than any sporting event.
"I'm excited for it to be in New Orleans, for the city, period," he told MTV News on the set of his upcoming "B------ Love Me" video. "Just for the city to get that kind of respect and that recognition, after such a tragedy [like Hurricane Katrina]."
Still, come Super Sunday, either the Baltimore Ravens or the San Francisco 49ers will be hosting the Lombardi Trophy. So who's Wayne's pick to win it all? Well, since his beloved Packers aren't playing, it turns out he doesn't really have one. He's just going to be watching like the rest of us.
"I'm going to just chill with family, enjoy the game like everybody else," he said. "My team's not in it, so I aint trippin'."
